Whether you're new to swing, perhaps new to dance in general, or if you're coming back to it after some time away, this course has something for everyone!
Swing Foundations is a uniquely curated Lindy Hop program designed by Swingout Rhythm Dance Club. We meet participants where they are, both individually and as a group, and give them what they need in order to dance with anyone at any social dance. The goals of our classes are to have fun while building and improving our social dance skills; to support the growing community of swing dancers in our area; and to promote the values of Lindy Hop.
We approach some of the fundamentals of swing dance rooted in the traditions of Lindy Hop, such as rhythm, connection, and creativity as the basis of our classes. Far from a formal ballroom dance stuck in the past, at it's core, swing dance is an energetic street dance popularized in Harlem in the 1930s that’s very much alive and enjoyed worldwide today. We want to share the joy and spirit of this dance with you!
Whether you sign up with a partner or not, expect to rotate and dance with the rest of the class in order to facilitate the experience of social dancing. This also helps build connection and community, and it happens to make learning faster and more fun.
