Are you finding yourself wanting to go into hibernation mode now that it's getting dark so early? I know I am! But if there's one thing I've learned time and again, it's that movement, music, and connecting with others can do wonders in improving how we feel, especially during the darker months.

Let's not underestimate how medicinal it can be to get out, enjoy some great music, and spend time dancing with other people. It's good for the body, good for the mind, and a wonderful way to keep ourselves feeling connected and energized as we head into winter.

So let's keep moving, keep dancing, and keep finding reasons to get together! Read on for what's coming up this month and some special dates to look forward to!

Redline Swing Wednesday, November 4

We're back at Redline Music Stage with another night of live swing music and dancing! This month we're welcoming The Paumanok Stompers for their SRDC debut.

If you joined us for the Fire Island dance last year, you'll remember how much fun they are to dance to. Now we get to enjoy them right here in our own backyard!

Doors open at 7PM with a beginner-friendly lesson, followed by live music from 8–10PM.

Grab your tickets and invite a friend to join you. Let's make it another great night of dancing together!

PS: everyone is invited to join us at the nearby Bedford Diner after the dance for more community bonding

An Update on Classes & Private Lessons

As Swingout Rhythm moves into a new chapter, I'm making a change to how I'm offering dance instruction. For the time being, I will no longer be holding weekly group classes. Instead, I'm focusing on private bookings that offer more flexibility in scheduling and the opportunity to tailor lessons to the people participating.

Private lessons are a great way to work on your own dancing, learn with friends, or introduce swing dancing to a group. If you have something in mind, I'd be happy to help put it together!

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our weekly classes. I've enjoyed sharing sharing ideas and growing as dancers together, and I look forward to continuing to see you at our dances and other events!

Have an idea for a lesson, gathering, or event? Let's make it happen! Get in touch and we can work out the details.

Dancing Through the Darker Months

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, it's easy to find ourselves spending more time at home and less time out doing the things that bring us joy.

But I think it's especially important this time of year to make room for the things that make us feel alive. To hear music that makes us want to move, to laugh with friends, to meet new people, and to experience that little boost of energy that comes from being out on the dance floor.

That's a big part of why I love swing dancing and why I've enjoyed creating opportunities for people to experience it here in the Lower Hudson Valley. It's about more than learning steps. It's about having something to look forward to, a place to connect, and a reason to get out of the house even when hibernation sounds tempting!

So as we head into winter, I hope you'll make time for a little music, movement, and connection. Bring a friend, come out to a dance, or get a group together for a private lesson. There are plenty of ways to keep dancing, and I'd love to see you at one of them.

Stay warm, keep moving, and I'll see you on the dance floor!

With gratitude,
Kelly
